As well as experience at the GLA and Bank of England as a UK economist, principal source of advice to the Mayor on European financial issues (eg European Banking Union and Financial Transactions tax) and on London’s relative competitiveness.
Lived for two years in Basle Switzerland when seconded to work at the Bank for International Settlements.
As an International Economist specialising in West Europe, East/Central Europe and emerging Asia, travelled extensively in Europe, the US/Canada, Japan and Asia and Australia and New Zealand. Excellent network of international contacts. Speak French and German,have also done short course in Russian.
Elected to the Council of the Federal Trust, formed in 1945 to study the future of democratic unity between nations. Member of several Federal Trust Study Groups and co-author of some of their publications.
Regular guest at meetings of the OECD Financial Markets Committee in Paris.
